Abstract
Key Words: Writing skill, Brainwriting method, Descriptive text. Writing is one of the important skills of a learning English. Because writing is a basic language skill, as important as speaking, listening and reading. Although always written last time, does not mean writing is a skill that is not important. This research focuses on writing descriptive text. The researcher uses Brainwriting as strategy in this research, which is strategy is used to aid the students’ in writing skill. This research is a pre-experimental research with one group pre-test post-test design. The objects were students of SMPN 01 Arosbaya consisting of 32 students which divide into 32 students. The instrument in this study was descriptive text is correctly. The result of this research shows that there is a significant effect on students’ writing skill by using descriptive text. It can be seen through thesscore of P. value (.000) that exceed a level significance 5% a(0.05), it mean that alternative hypothesis was accepted and null hypothesis was rejected. Moreover, the students gave a positive feedback. The students were excited and enjoyed in learning writing descriptive text by using brainwriting. It also could make students become more confident to learn English more. Finally, the researcher concluded that teaching writing by using descriptive text is quite successful. The researcher expects that this strategy is effective to be applied in writing learning process.
