Abstract
Writing in higher education has become a challenge for schools and students who learn less than optimal with the application of the curriculum used. In line with the current phenomenon, one of the strategies in writing class that can help the class to be more effective is by integrating technology in teaching and learning activities and Instagram application is considered to be used. Qualitative research was used to get in-depth answers about how teachers use Instagram application in teaching writing skills; how the form of student activities supported by the use of Instagram application. Reviewing responses from students about the use of Instagram applications in learning writing classes, first, Instagram applications can increase the learning motivation of its users and can improve their writing skills and students are more active in developing their writing skills, second, their confidence to publish their written, not time-consuming, easy to do assignments anytime and everywhere, getting comments and feedback. And finally by utilizing existing facilities students can learn to use the Instagram application, allowing users to practice in everyday life.
