Abstract

Fatimatussahro 2023. The implementation of shadowing technique in speaking skills for English course fresh graduates Thesis. Undergraduate Program STKIP PGRI Bangkalan. Advisors: (I) Iin Rachmawati, S.S., M.Hum., (II) Tera Athena, S.Pd., M.Pd. Keywords : Shadowing Technique, Speaking Skills, Course, fresh Graduates. Researcher used a type of qualitative research which aims to determine students' abilities after using the shadowing technique in speaking class and to find out the perceptions of BEC Course Fresh Graduated students in Pare towards shadowing technique activities. Shadowing is a shadowing technique that imitates someone's voice when speaking or conveying information using a video or sound recording that involves listening and repeating, so it must be listened to carefully and needs to be practiced repeatedly to produce good results. While speaking is the ability to make sounds through words and must be mastered by someone to make it easier to communicate with others, convey ideas and opinions to others. In data collection, researchers conducted observation tests, interviews, and documentation of 5 respondents who were students who graduated from the BEC Course in Pare. First, the researcher made observations in that place. Then in the interview test, the researcher gave the same 6 questions to 5 students who had previously presented them in front using a muted video and students filled in the video's voice by reading the text given by the researcher. This is in accordance with the theme given or previously used by researchers. In addition, the researcher carried out the documentation process by taking photos and several videos during the learning research process. Based on the results of this study, the responses given by students were positive, namely students did not feel bored, enthusiastic about participating in the learning process, some students also felt braver, and felt more confident reading texts using shadowing techniques. So it was concluded that the application of the Shadowing technique was very efficient for use in learning English speaking skills.
