Abstract

The election of the Village Head has become a big agenda among society, especially rural communities. The act of bribing to get votes is not something new. Because people think that this is only on the scale of the village head, so many individuals think this is less important. Village head candidates glance at unused voting rights to get votes. Village head candidates give them money to get votes from the community, especially individuals who don't want to vote. This research looks at the phenomena that occur in society regarding money politics. This research aims to see the reasons why people take money from village head candidates. The method used is a qualitative method with data collection techniques using purposive sampling. The research subjects were the people of Gunung Sereng Village who received bribes and did not want to take part in the election at first. This research looks at it using the lens of Alfred Schutz's theory of phenomenology. The results of the research are that people's interest in coming to the polling station can be bought with money. This is due to the community's lack of knowledge about democracy and lack of approach to village head candidates so they choose to abstain, if there is no money or bait to go then they will not go. People who are given money feel that they will benefit if they take the money and exercise their voting rights.
