ABSTRACT A literary work is basically the result of a human thought, or what we usually call a writer. The creation of a literary work usually uses humans as its object and language as its medium. A writing of literary works, problems related to the character of fictional characters, psychological elements in a literary work. This is usually used as the main object in a study of literary works, especially the psychology of literature. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method. The aim of this research is to describe the five humanistic personality needs. The method used in this study is the reading and note method. The results obtained from searching the data are: physiological needs which consist of the need to eat and drink, the need to bathe to make the body clean and good, the need to breathe normally, the need to rest and sleep, the need to have a place to live. Safety needs, affection/love needs, self-esteem needs, and self-actualization needs which consist of: peak experience, acceptance of oneself, others and nature, spontaneous, simple, and reasonable, and problem-centered. Keywords: Literary Psychology, Humanistic Personality, Novel ABSTRAK Sebuah karya sastra pada dasarnya merupakan hasil dari pemikiran seorang manusia, atau yang biasa kita sebut sastrawan. Penciptaan sebuah karya sastra ini biasanya menggunakan manusia sebagai objeknya dan bahasa sebagai medianya. Sebuah penulisan karya sastra, masalah yang berhubungan dengan watak tokoh fiksi, unsur-unsur kejiwaan yang ada di dalam sebuah karya sastra. Ini yang biasanya dijadikan sebagai objek utama dalam sebuah penelitian karya sastra khususnya psikologi sastra. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif tujuan penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan lima kebutuhan kepribadian humanistik. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu metode baca dan catat. Hasil yang didapatkan dari pencarian data yaitu: kebutuhan fisiologis yang terdiri dari kebutuhan makan dan minum, kebutuhan mandi untuk menjadikan tubuh bersih dan baik, kebutuhan bernafas secara normal, kebutuhan istirahat dan tidur, kebutuhan memiliki tempat tinggal. Kebutuhan rasa aman, kebutuhan kasih sayang/cinta, kebutuhan memiliki harga diri, dan kebutuhan aktualisasi diri yang terdiri dari: pengalaman puncak, menerima diri sendiri, orang lain dan kodrat, spontan, sederhana, dan wajar, dan terpusat pada masalah.
